Brooklyn Townhouse Apartment

Park Slope / Brooklyn, NY

Located within a Brooklyn townhouse, this apartment renovation draws upon the client's distinctive collection of antiques, textiles, and objects gathered throughout years of travel and life abroad. Rather than imposing a singular aesthetic, the design celebrates these personal artifacts, weaving them into a layered interior that feels both curated and deeply lived-in.

A warm palette, natural materials, and carefully selected furnishings create a colorful yet restrained atmosphere, balancing richness with a sense of calm. The result is an inviting home that feels timeless, intimate, and serene—a space where each object contributes to a cohesive narrative while reflecting the client's experiences and personal history.

The client requested a flexible room that could accommodate multiple functions without sacrificing comfort or character. Serving as the home's only television room, the space also functions as a home office and guest bedroom through the use of a carefully integrated workspace and a pull-out sofa. A richer, more intimate material palette distinguishes the room from the rest of the apartment, creating the atmosphere of a classic English snug. Layered with collected maps, antiques, and artifacts gathered during the client's travels, the design embraces a sense of warmth, retreat, and discovery. The result is a highly adaptable space that transitions effortlessly between work, relaxation, and hospitality while reflecting the client's lifelong appreciation for travel, history, and craftsmanship.

The primary bedroom was conceived as a quiet retreat, offering a sense of calm through a restrained palette of warm neutrals, natural materials, and layered textures. Soft furnishings, understated finishes, and carefully balanced proportions create an atmosphere that feels both serene and inviting. Adjoining the bedroom, the dressing room introduces a richer layer of personality through a vintage kilim rug, a slipper chair upholstered in vibrant suzani fabric, and an arrangement of collected mirrors that reflect light and add subtle shimmer throughout the space. Together, the suite balances tranquility with the client's appreciation for craftsmanship, travel, and collected objects, creating a private sanctuary that feels timeless, elegant, and deeply personal.
